Berkshire Pork, also known as Kurobuta or “Black Pig” is raised by small family farms in the Midwest. Originating from the English county of Berkshire, the Berkshire breed was made popular in Japan due to its tenderness, flavor and juiciness. Over the years, the breed has often been referred to as the “Kobe Beef” of pork. Our Berkshire Pork is from one of the premier 100% Berkshire Pork Programs in the United States. While many producers will breed with other genetics, our Berkshire Pork stays true and raises only Certified 100% Pure Berkshire hogs. Our pork are raised using a uniform feed ration at all levels of growth. No animal byproducts are used in their vegetarian diet. This high quality feed emphasizes the tenderness and flavor of the meat. It has noticeably darker meat color and higher marbling content than your ordinary pork.
